Have you ever noticed how some people
can talk for an hour and say nothing. On the other hand, I
have met people who say very little and I feel I know exactly what they
mean. Maybe it is an illusion that I understand them
because they have not said a bunch of nervous confusing crap to get me
off track from their true meaning. I am guilty
of both these but I probably say too much 90% of the time.
One mistake we make is thinking that the person takes in info in the
same way as they put it out and this is obvious to me to not be the
case.
If someone talks slow and says little one might get the impression that
this person is slow or does not get it. I am amazed how
often I find, after getting to know them, that I was
wrong. Rarely is there a person who talks a blue
steak and listens with the same efficiency. It is my
observation that it takes a lot more brain power (RAM) to talk than it
does to listen. The student who learns the most is the one
who says the least. The one time this does not matter is
when the person is only capable or willing to absorb 5% of a lesson so
95% small talk is fine. I would call this a serious
learning disability. These people......who say........two or
three words.......at a time.........with long gaps.......in
between.......are so.......annoying. My reason for
mentioning it here is not to put down half the people in the world, but
to try and make a conclusion as to what this says about the way they
think or listen.
